Zhou Yong drove his Great Wall Hover at the finish of today’s stage with position #20. In the photo Yo is being interviewed while I was waiting to interview him on camera. I think my Asian Loctite friends will be very happy to hear his testimonial at the Dakar 2010.
Today not much going on at the Loctite stand in Santa Rosa, everybody is preparing for the final leg of the rally and not much damage was caused by the long stage of today. The bivouac is located in the town’s center, close to a lake. Lots of visitors are approaching the gates and peeking into the last activities in preparation for the last Special Stage tomorrow and the final arrival in Buenos Aires.José, Jean and Martin are working at the last plastic repairs for today and for this edition of the Dakar. Tomorrow morning 16 Jan, we will drive early to the finish of the special in order to see the winners live and take some good shots.
Today I met Gustavo and his family. A party of 15 travelling across Argentina following the Race of his son driving car #423. It’s amazing how many encounters you can have during the Dakar Race in the middle of the Pampa at a gas station.
Baldwin of Team Gordon taping the windscreen of his Hummer after the finish of the special stage today, before departing for the liason: “I have to protect my eyes otherwise I can’t see the beauty of my many gorgeous girlfriends”. He also responded to a local fan who asked him to see the engine: “this truck has no engine. It goes with solar power: it’s a hybrid… it eats tape and solar power”
With a third special stage victory on the Dakar 2010, Francisco Lopez has stolen a march in his combat with Pal-Anders Ullevalseter for 2nd place in the general standings, which are still dominated by Cyril Despres. Two days from the finish in Buenos Aires, Carlos Sainz slightly increased his lead over Nasser Al Attiyah, but the gap is still only 520.
I met Giovann yesterday with José. He came asking for assistance as he had to change the differential of his car. He drives an assistance truck, and works as a mechanic. he He used Loctite quick gasket on the differential, and the day after the car was ready on the start.
I walked along the racing track yesterday hoping to get some decent shots. Chicherit’s BMW started in pole position on the San Juan – San Rafael leg of this Rally.
It‘s 7:40am here and we are headed to the end of today’s stage which has been moved by 6Km due to the too many curious local visitors. The total length of today’s stage is around 700Km. It will be a long day again.
Today I was at the start of the special stage in San Juan. Thi stage with a total of almost 700Km stretches over dunes and gravel. It probably will be for the competitors the hardest of all the race. The first bikers are coming in right now, with some delay, which means the stage was hard. It’s gonna be a hard night for the Loctite Charlies at the service point. We foresee a lot of plastic repairs.

Henkel heading to South America as Official Supplier of Loctite® and Teroson branded products for the 2010 Dakar Rally in Argentina and Chile.
Over the past five years, Henkel power brands have supplied proof of their capability to win - and keep - the Dakar Rally competitors' confidence.
